Green woodworking is a method of woodwork that makes everyday objects and furniture from locally sourced green wood with hand tools such as axes and knives.
Traditionally most of wooden crafts were made from green wood with hand tools when the machines were not yet available. As the industry developed, the method of woodwork had totally changed from human scale to mass production. Now people started re-evaluating green woodworking as a method of getting in touch with the local woodland, making things for fun, and learning more about the nature and the environment.
Greenwoodwork Lab develops original tools, textbooks, programs, and other items to promote green woodworking to various communities in Japan.
